“I Don’t Pay to Work!” – And Other Fairy Tales People Tell Themselves

Every once in a while, we get an applicant who says something like:

“I don’t pay to work.”

Cue the dramatic music and slow clap.

  • Want to be a tradesperson?
    Fork over thousands for tools, certifications, union dues, and liability insurance.

    You’ll need:

    • Secure hosting for sensitive customer data (because laws and adulting exist)

    • A2P10DLC certification to legally use communication platforms (because federal regulations exist)

That’s it.
You’re not buying inventory, pitching your friends in pyramid schemes, or selling leggings on Facebook Live.

It’s literally the bare minimum.
It’s the equivalent of paying for shoes before you expect to walk into a restaurant.

“But I don’t pay to work!”

Oh, sweet summer child.
